Alternative Dad gifts on Fathers Day?

Father's Day this year takes place on Sunday the 20th of June and after a difficult year, we're looking forward to celebrating special days more than ever. Whilst we hope that the lockdown restrictions will have lifted by then it's a good idea to be prepared.

We are not all blessed to have a father who is 'easy to buy for' and for many there is ‘the man who has everything that they need'. So what on Earth do you get them?

So we have popped together a few ideas and alternatives from the normal to ensure you give them a day to remember.

Start as you mean to go on

Of course there is the standard breakfast in bed but why not make it extra special and give them a menu (think along the lines of a hotel service!) Get the kids to don aprons and order pads!

Keep them the focus of the day

Not only does Daddy decide what happens for the day but if you have kids it could be a fun idea to do a "Daddy quiz" think along the lines of a Mr and Mrs game.

Dad garden athletics

So that your dad can channel his inner athlete why not setup some 'Dad games' in the garden, an assault course he can race against the family. Complete this with a homemade dad trophy at the end!

Create an at Home Beer or Wine Tasting

Why not make your own tasting session. You can either get some local wines/beers/ciders/Dad’s favourite drink or if not grab a selection from the local supermarket and you can blind taste and rate them! If you have a local vineyard/brewery they may be able to supply you with tasting notes to make it really informative!

DIY cooking box

Why not get a home delivery cooking box and cook something a little different together. There are loads of really great cooking kits that have emerged in lockdown suitable for even the fussiest of tastebuds!

Dad dancing IS allowed

Try not to cringe too much, and let your Dad embrace and embarrass! Pop on your Dad's favourite music and let him for one day only shake those hips or don his air guitar!

Write something from the heart

Nothing says more, than a really personal message in a card. It is something that comes from your heart and your Dad can keep and treasure forever. A card with a special message can mean more than all the presents in the world.
